Dale Franklin

Dale Franklin comes from a real showbiz family - his mum, Pat, was one of TV's Wrigley's Doublemint twins and his step-father, Derek Franklin, was a radio star. Despite this background, Dale started out as a sales and marketing consultant in property. However, it wasn't long before he gave in to his real love and started a career in broadcasting. Dale interviewed many celebrities for local radio, worked at the National Film & Television School and, in 1998, ended up here at QVC! Dale enjoys a hectic and happy home life and his wide-ranging interests include DIY, gardening and TV - so QVC's diverse range of programming suits him down to the ground.

'I really like The Godfather, Zulu, and It's a Wonderful Life - I'm not sure what that says about me.'

Favourite Colour?

Blue, as the viewers know!

Favourite Film?

There are too many to choose from. I really like The Godfather, Zulu, and It's a Wonderful Life - I'm not sure what that says about me. They're all films I could watch over and over again.

Favourite Book?

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. It's one of the first books I read myself and I've read it to the children, so it's a book that's close to my heart.

Do you have any children?

I have twins, Alexandra and Jack.

What do you enjoy doing?

So many things. I've got such diverse interests. That's why this job suits me so well! Sport, films, cars, DIY, photography, gardening and TV, to name a few.

What's your idea of a perfect weekend?

Driving to the West Country with the family. Just getting away from it all really, and chilling out

What can't you live without?

My sense of humour.

What's the scariest thing you've ever done?

When I was on holiday in Kenya once, I touched a sea snake. Later, I found out it was one of the deadliest snakes in the world! Auditioning for QVC was a scary experience too.

What's been your silliest moment at QVC?

I do a lot of daft things. Maybe doing karaoke when we were selling a karaoke machine - I sang I Will Survive and New York New York, and we had all the guests on doing high kicks.

Tell us a joke

A man walked up to me and said, 'I've just been bitten by a dog on my bike, what should I do?' I said, 'Take your bike back.'
